What to do

  1. Ask for the General Price List before discussing packages.
  2. Compare the same service across providers, such as direct cremation or graveside service.
  3. Ask which third-party costs are not included, such as cemetery, clergy, permits, or newspaper notices.
  4. Write down the callback time and whether the provider answered clearly.

Compare like with like

The most common mistake is comparing one provider's full-service funeral package against another provider's direct cremation price. Pick one scenario first, then ask each provider for the same line items.

The General Price List is the anchor. It should make individual goods and services visible, even if a provider also offers packages.

Notice how the provider communicates

Price matters, but so does clarity. Families often need decisions within 24 to 72 hours. A provider who explains options plainly, calls back when promised, and does not rush add-ons is usually easier to work with.

Paid placement should be labeled. Reviews should distinguish verified families from general comments.
